Our focus

Antidepressants, gently.

Withdrawal (discontinuation) effects after stopping antidepressants are common. The largest meta-analysis to date (Henssler et al., 2024) found about 1 in 3 people get symptoms — roughly 1 in 6 more than placebo — and around 1 in 35 have severe symptoms; earlier surveys reported higher rates. Current UK guidance (NICE 2022) recommends slowly reducing the dose in proportionate steps, agreed with your prescriber.
